Prayer Encouragement - 8th March 2021

Last week the Lord reminded us of this scripture:

“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” Matthew 9:35-36

In York and throughout our nation, there are many individuals who are afraid, angry, lonely, lost and despairing. This week, join us in praying for those who are ‘harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd’. This may be those within the church as well as those who have not yet met Jesus. His compassion is so great for us all, and His heart is to bring healing, peace, freedom and restoration to hearts that are crying out in pain.

You may want to particularly pray for the family and friends of Sarah Everard, as well as the man charged with her murder in London. You may also feel led to pray for the many people who are angry and afraid after her murder, that they encounter Jesus at this time and would know His peace and protection. Equally, you may want to intercede for the root of murder and violence against women to be dealt with in our nation and throughout the world by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Lord, our hearts break at the pain of so many in our nation. We ask that eyes would be opened to the reality that You are a good shepherd; You are trustworthy and protect the sheep in Your care. We ask for Your compassion to be poured out on those suffering right now, that they would know Your love and Your presence with them. We also pray for the family of Sarah Everard, based in York, Lord let Your presence be with them tangibly. May they lean into You and receive Your comfort and love. Holy Spirit, murder and violence are wrong and evil in Your sight. We need Your power, wisdom, and mercy to root out this horrendous wrong in our nation. Convict the hearts of perpetrators of these offences, may they be overwhelmed with Your holiness in the face of their sin as well as Your unrelenting mercy. Let Your kingdom come, and Your will be done, Lord God. Amen.

Blessings from the House of Prayer team!
